Restaurants in Central Eleuthera
Official Eleuthera Harbour Island brings you more information on the restaurants in Central Eleuthera.
There are a few chic fine dining restaurants on Eleuthera, as well as a range of small locally owned restaurants, take-aways, and roadside vendors selling Bahamian style food, BBQ, and fresh conch salad. Many of Eleuthera’s small restaurants are known as “take-aways.” This does not necessarily imply that they just serve takeaway or that they are fast food in any way. Most have seating places for dine-in customers, although some just sell meals to go. On Eleuthera, eating out takes time because you are on “island time,” therefore don’t go to a restaurant hungry because it will take a long time to acquire your food.
When you go out, take your time, have a drink, and take in the scenery while you wait. Eleuthera has numerous fantastic eateries, so have a look at our selection and see what appeals to you. Most restaurants have constantly changing hours and are not always open when you expect them to be, so if you really want to eat somewhere, phone ahead to confirm that they are open. Reservations are strongly advised for all fine dining establishments.

Don’t be fooled by the rustic wood tables and outdoor dining—Harbour Island and Central Eleuthera provide excellent cuisine that rivals that of any Nassau restaurant. Although the atmosphere is usually laid-back and no ties are required, the food is taken seriously. Of course, island favorites like cracked conch, barbecued pig or chicken, and the luscious Bahamian lobster known as crawfish are still available, but cappuccinos, steak, and lobster ravioli are now available.
