Power outages are not uncommon in Harbour Island but they last a short period of time . Harbour Island has now their own generating station and power outages have diminished. Most hotels, restaurants and vacation rentals do have generators that will turn on as soon as an interruption occurs. They turn on automatically and will shut off when the outage is gone. Outages occur when too many people are on the island and when the electricity produced is insufficient. The weather will also impact electricity supply when trees fall down on poles or during hurricanes, which are extremely rare on Harbour Island,  the electricity supply will for sure be disrupted .

If you are concerned about the electricity supply for whatever reasons please confirm with your hotel or your vacation rental that there is a generator and that it is operational.
